MTV Europe Music Awards 2008
Held in Liverpool, were a perfect match for D3’s capabilities. Besides traditional projected screen elements, the set made heavy use of sculptural forms composed of diverse LED fixtures including a radial ceiling arrangement of Barco Mistrip, vertically arranged Element Labs Versatubes, and low-resolution Martin LC and HLED screens used to display titles, competition categories and winners.
D3 was chosen for in-show playback of content onto all sculptural LED fixtures. The parallel mapping system allowed instant re-targeting of graphical video content on any set of fixtures; the feed system allowed content to be output according to the LED grids received from the client; and the templating system allowed all awards to be driven by the same set of sequencing cues.
