White Light tour 2008

Dutch superstar Marco Borsato’s 2008 ‘Witlicht’ (White Light) tour was perfectly suited for d3. Element Labs’ new Helix P1 LED was used to create a set of concentric ellipses behind the singer, and a curving walkway extending out into the audience.

In addition, moving vertical panels of Stealth were used to display either graphical content or IMAG (live video). D3’s parallel mapping technology allowed seamless mapping of content onto these complex shapes, with alpha masks on the maps allowing smooth blending of different content across the stage and concentric circles.

The whole show was sequenced in the visualiser and signed off by the client before production rehearsals, and was ‘right first time’ when plugged into the stage. The result – a shorter production rehearsal and significant cost savings; and a perfect show.
